Y PARA MEMORIA HACE ACUÑAR ESTA MEDALLA, XXIII DE ENERO DE MDCCCLXXV’ (The City of Havana Celebrates with Great Festivities the Ascent of the Throne of His Majesty King Alfonso XII and in Commemoration has Minted this Medal, 23 January 1875. The medal was issued by the City of Havana, Cuba, on 23 January 1875 to mark the coronation of King Alfonso XII. Medal is made out of bronze with a very nice silver patina.Medal measures 22 mm of diameter.The King reigned for little more than ten years, dying of tuberculosis at the age of just 27 on 25 November 1885. King Juan Carlos of Spain is his great-grandson.
